In Denmark, bold experiments are becoming everyday practice. Factories are reopening as  community hubs. Shipyards are finding new life as gathering spaces. Rail yards are turning into neighborhoods.

Around the world, pressure to change is building, and it looks different for each of us.

Transformation is becoming essential, but proven models are hard to find.

Unlike a conference, Radical Ordinary invites you to an intimate, curated experience with 25 peers leading change in their fields.

What you’ll gain:

  • Frameworks for transformation, from buildings to systems to communities

  • Precedents and projects you can point to, while discussing decisions and trade-offs

  • Experiences that shift your perspective and inspire bold vision

  • Relationships with practitioners across disciplines and borders, built offline and meant to last

  • AIA Continuing Education credits for architects (pending approval)

Innovation doesn't always mean “new.”

It often means reimagining what you already have.

  • Keep the factory. Change the neighborhood.

Thoravej 29, Copenhagen. A 1967 factory rebuilt into a hub for art and community life using 95% of materials recovered on site.

  • Keep the shipyard. Change the waterfront.

Refshaleøen, Copenhagen. A former shipyard transformed into a cultural district for food, culture and creative industry.

  • Keep the dry dock. Change the harbor.

M/S Maritime Museum of Denmark, Helsingør. The rebirth of a historic harbor into a cultural district.

  • Keep the rail yard. Change the community.

Jernbanebyen, Copenhagen. An industrial railway district being transformed into a neighborhood rising from its industrial heritage.

“In such a digitally connected world, there is a deep need to experience things in real life, to touch things, interact, see things, and exchange ideas in the tangible world.”

— Cybelle Jones, SEGD
